Detailed Description:
The University of San Diego, Professional and Continuing Education is looking for an adjunct faculty member to teach and/or develop an online class for our Medical Billing and Coding course. The course is offered in the online self-paced format and students have 6 months to complete it.
Teaching responsibilities include: teaching, assessing student progress in meeting the learning objectives through formal and informal assessment, holding office hours, meeting required deadlines for submitting grades, attendance, and other information, as requested, and adhering to safety procedures and departmental standards. Development responsibilities include: working with the Learning Design Team to create and develop the course in our learning management system while meeting agreed upon deliverable dates.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of an associate degree in medical billing and coding as well as certification, including passing the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certification Exam. Certification should be specific to medical coding and medical billing. Experience in the medical field is essential, particularly in positions with responsibilities related to billing. Further qualifications include knowledge of medical records management, medical terminology, administrative duties, skills for electronic medical record software programs, and healthcare theory and reasoning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus
