Director of Patient Financial Services
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Department: Revenue Cycle Management
Position Classification: Exempt
Job Summary:
The Director of Patient Financial Services is responsible for the revenue operation that is measurable, accountable, scalable, and adaptable to changes in Air Medical Billing.
The Director serves as the primary operational link between executive leadership and the revenue-cycle team. The position must provide leadership with an accurate view of financial performance, emerging risks, unresolved accounts, staffing needs, and emerging changes to Air Medical Billing.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Revenue Cycle & Financial Visibility: Establish standards for claim submission, follow-up, and posting; maintain clear executive dashboards to track collections, aging, denials, and payer trends.
  • Air Medical Disputes & Appeals: Direct dispute resolution, negotiation, and appeal strategies under the No Surprises Act; manage legal/regulatory escalations for unresolved payer underpayments or delays.
  • Process & Technology Optimization: Drive continuous improvement by implementing automated billing platforms, new workflows, and system enhancements without disrupting collection operations.
  • Departmental Leadership & Scaling: Direct team performance and accountability, foster cross-functional collaboration, and build operational capacity to support expanding flight bases, aircraft, and client volume.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Embed HIPAA, privacy, and security protocols into daily workflows, identifying and resolving systemic process failures early.

Required Qualifications & Capabilities
  • Experience: 10+ years of healthcare billing, A/R, and finance experience, with 3+ years in formal management leading teams through system/workflow implementations.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in air medical billing and the No Surprises Act (NSA) is strictly required.
  • Skills: Strong financial analytics (advanced Excel), executive-level reporting, change management, and cross-departmental problem-solving capabilities.
