Job description

Northbridge University is seeking a qualified full-time Medical Assistant Instructor.

Classes typically run Monday to Thursday and can be held in the morning or evening.


Lead Instructor duties include teaching, directing, and coordinating academic activities and other academic-related activities. They support the administrative team to ensure the labs are up to code and in compliance, and participate in the curriculum and assessment committee. Lead Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in their area of expertise, ensuring that coursework aligns with institutional and regulatory standards. The Faculty member provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary in their chosen field of study by utilizing teaching skills, experience, and abilities to create a positive, nurturing and effective classroom environment in an effort to actively retain and successfully graduate, and obtain gainful employment from their program of study. This role requires a combination of academic credentials, professional experience, and relevant certifications to meet the expectations of the field, depending on the program offering level.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Current valid Medical Assistant Certification: RMA, CMA, or NCMA required
  • Minimum Associate Degree in Medical Assistant Or
  • A combination of work experience and/or required credentials in the field they will be teaching: Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience at the college level; preferably in the proprietary school setting; and, a minimum of 3 years of work experience in field.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches a full time load (quarter credit is two courses per term; semester see faculty handbook)
  • Develop and deliver engaging course content, including lectures, assignments, and assessments, as outlined in the course syllabus.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and grading.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Comply with institutional policies and accreditation standards regarding faculty qualifications and instructional quality.
  • Complete a minimum of 8 hours of annual professional development training related to teaching or subject matter expertise.
  • Contribute to program improvement by collaborating with academic leadership and peers to enhance curriculum and instructional strategies. Promote a teaching-learning environment that encourages the academic progress of the students.
  • Maintain knowledge of the subject matter in the field(s) of appointment and create learning experiences to make the subject matter meaningful and relative to the students.
  • Maintains the content of the courses updated, and at a top level to achieve the highest standards of academic excellence possible.
  • Continuously relate the relevancy of all courses within the program to the current course being taught.
  • Provide, and review with students, a course syllabus on the first day of class that identifies the goals and objectives of the course, the teaching and evaluation methods, and the information and assignments that will be covered in the course
  • Submit course syllabi and lesson plans, to the Dean of Academic Affairs no later than the first day of class each term/module.
  • Provide exams and answer key to the Dean of Academic Affairs no later than the week before of the exam date.
