Receive training to become a Qualified Telehealth Technician with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Duties and Responsibilities 

As a Certified Medical Assistant Telehealth Technician, you will be responsible for providing a friendly, welcoming, and confidential environment for our Veterans by managing real-time telehealth events, providing instructions for patients, and providing technical and administrative support for telehealth operations.
Key Duties 

  • Prepare the clinical environment, which may include both medical and telecommunication equipment to be used for clinical examination and treatment
  • Follow the instructions of a clinician to facilitate an effective patient encounter
  • Serve as an imager and clinical data manager 
  • Save and forward telehealth clinical encounters including tasks such as capturing images, collecting data, and transmitting them electronically for clinical review
  • Inventory management, cleaning of clinical equipment and the care environment
  • Complete standardized clinical questionnaires
  • Monitoring and maintaining schedules of rooms, patients, technologies, clinical providers, and presenters as needed to ensure efficient telehealth operations
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information in patient’s electronic medical record
  • Obtain medical histories from patients; verify patient information
  • Prepare, assist, and accurately complete all forms
  • Administer medications and operate diagnostic equipment
  • Assist providers during examinations and treatment
  • Take vital signs and perform all ancillary tests appropriate to skill level, certifications, and state regulations
  • Perform ancillary testing and tasks as ordered by the Center Medical Director (PFT, EKG, injections, audiograms, blood draws, etc.) and as certified
  • Collect lab Specimens from patients and submit received results to medical providers
  • Complete all clinical reminders
  • Answer and return patient telephone calls, messages, and alerts

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High School Diploma/GED 
  • Graduate of an accredited certificate program
  • Current and active medical assisting certification
  • Knowledge of computer systems including the MS Office Suite
  • Two years of continuous experience in clinical operations
  • Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association
