About the Role:

The Medical Assistant in this role will provide comprehensive clinical and administrative support within an otolaryngology and allergy/immunology practice. The primary objective is to facilitate efficient patient care by preparing patients for examinations, assisting healthcare providers during procedures, and managing diagnostic testing related to allergies and immunological conditions. This position ensures the proper handling and processing of medical specimens, maintaining strict adherence to sterilization protocols to uphold patient safety and infection control standards. The Medical Assistant will also be responsible for operating and maintaining specialized medical instruments, contributing to accurate diagnostics and treatment planning. Ultimately, this role supports nurse practitioners and physicians by streamlining clinical workflows and enhancing patient experience in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent certification recognized in the United States.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of otolaryngology and allergy/immunology diagnostic procedures.
  • Experience with specimen collection, processing, and sterilization techniques.
  • Proficiency in using medical instruments relevant to the specialty.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and patient care protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working alongside nurse practitioners in a clinical setting.
  • Additional certification or training in allergy and immunology diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in specialty practices.
  • Advanced communication skills for patient education and support.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary healthcare team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examination by recording vital signs, medical histories, and relevant symptoms related to otolaryngology and allergy/immunology.
  • Assist healthcare providers during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including allergy testing and immunotherapy administration.
  • Collect, label, and process specimens accurately while following established sterilization and infection control protocols.
  • Operate and maintain medical instruments specific to otolaryngology and allergy/immunology diagnostics.
  • Manage patient scheduling, documentation, and communication to ensure seamless clinical operations and patient follow-up.
