Job description

To support golf course management staff in day to day operations by primarily focusing on ensuring daily operational objectives are met. AIT's are also responsible for continuous improvements to the member experience, balancing risk vs. reward ideology, timely and logical decisions, and maintaining the utmost confidentiality of Club business.
This position is a full-time, on-site role in Augusta, GA.
Job Responsibilities
  • Performs facility and crew inspections, opening and closing procedures, and posts daily work schedules as assigned.
  • Performs fertilizer and pesticide applications; monitors and orders products under management direction; and maintains PPE inventories.
  • Implements departmental training programs; trains, coaches, and provides supervisory support to Agronomy personnel; leads group projects; and promotes employee development, teamwork, and crew morale.
  • Maintains weather, soil, and erosion records; monitors course traffic, signage, turf stress, and flood control systems; and communicates operational adjustments to management.
  • Performs course scouting within assigned areas; provides scheduling input, maps, and recommendations to management; and assists in staff development.
  • Coordinates and participates in course maintenance, construction, irrigation, and systems repair projects while contributing technical expertise in equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ensures the effective execution of maintenance processes, programs, and projects while providing operational and continuous improvement recommendations to management.
  • Maintains bentgrass test greens and research sites; oversees product trials; and monitors root depth, soil temperature, and nematode data collection with Turf Grads.
  • Administers soil lab operations, clean-up, and maintenance of the wash rack, blow pad, mill creek, and clipping disposal systems.
  • Maintains compliance with department and Club safety procedures, manages PPE inventories, and updates SDS/MSDS documentation as directed.
  • Communicates member concerns professionally and promptly to the Senior Director of Agronomy and Superintendent.
  • Supports the Second Assistant with GPS recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Provides on-call support outside normal business hours for weather events, equipment failures, vandalism, and other situations requiring immediate response.
  • Maintains professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, and industry publications.
  • Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an important part of the job.
  • Physical demands are outlined immediately below.

Physical Demands
  • Constantly required to use arms, hands, and fingers to handle or lift items up to 50 pounds.
  • Constantly required to stand, walk, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms and/or drive a golf cart.
  • Use vision to perform activity such as but not limited to preparing and analyzing data and figures, visual inspection involving property maintenance, hazards, and safety violations, and/or operation of machines (including inspection).

Qualifications:
Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:
  • Knowledge of Turfgrass management, irrigation construction repair and maintenance
  • Landscaping knowledge preferred
  • Effective communication skills
  • Working knowledge of computer operation and software proficiency
  • High attention to detail

Relative Experience/Education:
  • Two to four years' relevant working experience on a golf course
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Minimum two-year certificate from an accredited Turfgrass management program or related field; Bachelor's Degree in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred

Required License(s):
  • Possess a valid driver's license and/or successfully completes the Club's internal motor vehicle training program
  • Must hold a current commercial pesticides license or the ability to obtain one

Projected Work Schedule:
Normal work hours are 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
