Job Description โ€“ Medical Assistant I

Location- Zephyrhills, FL

The Medical Assistant I provides clinical and administrative support across multiple service lines, including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, Womenโ€™s Health, and Laboratory services. This role ensures smooth patient flow, accurate data collection, and high-quality care delivery. Medical Assistants contribute to a positive patient experience by assisting providers with examinations, procedures, and clinical tasks while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

โ€ข Room patients, obtain vitals, collect medical histories, and prepare them for provider visits
โ€ข Assist providers during exams and procedures across departments
โ€ข Accurately document patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
โ€ข Clean and disinfect exam rooms and manage room inventory
โ€ข Process instruments, including use of autoclave
โ€ข Collect, label, and prepare lab specimens for testing
โ€ข Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and care teams
โ€ข Assist with scheduling, referrals, and patient inquiries when needed
โ€ข Collaborate with clinical leads and peers to improve workflows and meet performance goals
โ€ข Support quality improvement, compliance activities, and community engagement
โ€ข Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA
โ€ข Perform additional duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Qualifications

โ€ข Minimum 1 year of clinical experience; 3 years preferred
โ€ข Experience with pediatrics and adult patients strongly preferred
โ€ข Ability to obtain and maintain Epic certification
โ€ข Ability to travel between Premier sites as needed

Bonus / Preferred Skills:
โ€ข Experience with vaccine administration or lab draws
โ€ข Familiarity with multiple disciplines (Family Medicine, Behavioral Health, OB/Womenโ€™s Health)

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

โ€ข Ability to lift 20 lbs. regularly and up to 30โ€“50 lbs. occasionally
โ€ข Sit for extended periods and frequent use of computer systems
