Job Description โ Medical Assistant I
Location- Zephyrhills, FL
The Medical Assistant I provides clinical and administrative support across multiple service lines, including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, Womenโs Health, and Laboratory services. This role ensures smooth patient flow, accurate data collection, and high-quality care delivery. Medical Assistants contribute to a positive patient experience by assisting providers with examinations, procedures, and clinical tasks while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
โข Room patients, obtain vitals, collect medical histories, and prepare them for provider visits
โข Assist providers during exams and procedures across departments
โข Accurately document patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
โข Clean and disinfect exam rooms and manage room inventory
โข Process instruments, including use of autoclave
โข Collect, label, and prepare lab specimens for testing
โข Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and care teams
โข Assist with scheduling, referrals, and patient inquiries when needed
โข Collaborate with clinical leads and peers to improve workflows and meet performance goals
โข Support quality improvement, compliance activities, and community engagement
โข Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA
โข Perform additional duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
โข Strong customer service and communication skills
โข Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and maintain accuracy
โข Basic knowledge of clinical procedures and medical terminology
โข Ability to build rapport with patients of diverse backgrounds
โข Comfort working across multiple service lines
โข Proficiency in or willingness to learn EHR systems (Epic preferred)
โข Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Qualifications
โข High School Diploma or GED required
โข Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program, EMT, or Paramedic program
โข Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
โข Minimum 1 year of clinical experience; 3 years preferred
โข Experience with pediatrics and adult patients strongly preferred
โข Ability to obtain and maintain Epic certification
โข Ability to travel between Premier sites as needed
Bonus / Preferred Skills:
โข Experience with vaccine administration or lab draws
โข Familiarity with multiple disciplines (Family Medicine, Behavioral Health, OB/Womenโs Health)
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
โข Ability to lift 20 lbs. regularly and up to 30โ50 lbs. occasionally
โข Sit for extended periods and frequent use of computer systems
โข Travel between clinic locations as needed
โข Exposure to communicable diseases and clinical environments
