What does a media intern do?

A Media Intern typically assists marketing or communications teams with a variety of tasks such as creating and editing content, managing social media accounts, conducting research on media trends, and helping with the coordination of campaigns or events. The role is designed to provide hands-on experience in the media industry, allowing interns to develop skills in digital marketing, public relations, and content production. Media Interns often work closely with professionals to learn about media planning, analytics, and communication strategies, making it a valuable stepping stone for a career in media or communications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a media intern?

To thrive as a Media Intern, you need a basic understanding of media production, digital content creation, and strong written and verbal communication skills, often supported by coursework or experience in media studies or communications. Familiarity with tools like Adobe Creative Suite, social media management platforms, and content management systems is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn make an intern stand out in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for producing engaging content, supporting media campaigns, and adapting to the fast-paced nature of the media industry.

What types of projects do media interns typically work on, and how do these contribute to their professional development?

Media Interns often assist with content creation, social media management, and research for campaigns or media outreach. Job description

Social Media Marketing Intern – Fall 2026

Are you chronically online? We're looking for you.  If you're the person in your friend group who spots a trend before it goes viral and already has opinions about brand content, keep reading.

What You'll Be Doing

This isn't a "shadow and observe" internship. You'll be in the mix from day one, helping drive real social media activity across our brand's digital channels. That means:

  • Building and executing a monthly content calendar across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and TikTok
  • Keeping a pulse on trends and turning them into compelling, on-brand content
  • Supporting influencer campaigns alongside our Digital Marketing team
  • Contributing to the day-to-day operations of our consumer websites
  • Conducting social media market research to help us stay ahead of the curve

You're a Great Fit If You...

  • Are currently enrolled in an accredited college or university (this role is open to current students only).
  • Live and breathe social media — you know the trends, the formats, and the culture
  • Are comfortable on camera and excited to be part of the content
  • Have hands-on experience with platforms like Meta Business Suite, TikTok Business Center, Pinterest Business Hub, and YouTube Creator Studio
  • Can edit photos and video using tools like Canva, CapCut, or Photopea
  • Write clearly, proofread carefully, and bring strong attention to detail
  • Can balance multiple priorities and stay organized independently

The Details

Season:        Fall 2026
Hours:          15–20 hours per week
Total hours: Up to 500 per year
Location:      This is an in-person role based at our Oshkosh, WI office

Why You'll Love It

You'll gain real-world experience working across multiple social platforms and alongside a collaborative digital marketing team — building a portfolio that actually means something. This is your chance to learn the business side of social media marketing while doing work that makes an impact.

Ready to bring your social media obsession to work?
Apply now and show us what you've got.
