Job Title: Emergency Vehicle Operator Location: Mobile, AL Job Type: Full-time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt About Us At Medevac Alabama, our mission is to provide safe, reliable, and efficient medical transportation with the utmost professionalism. We are continually expanding our ground ambulance services to reach more communities across the state. Our goal is to deliver affordable, high-quality care to populations throughout Alabama while maintaining the highest levels of clinical excellence, response-time reliability, economic efficiency, customer loyalty, and employee satisfaction. Job Description Medevac Alabama is a growing ambulance service actively seeking dedicated Emergency Vehicle Operators (EVOs) to join the team. EVOs are responsible for providing safe and timely transportation of patients, ensuring their secure transfer to higher-level care facilities or other designated destinations. This role may also include assisting team members with basic medical tasks necessary to help stabilize ill or injured patients. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and dedication to serving others are strongly valued in this role. The position is based in Mobile, AL, with responsibilities extending throughout the service area. Essential Functions and Duties
  • Safely operate an emergency vehicle.
  • Assess the safety and hazards at the scene of an emergency.
  • Control the hazards at an emergency scene as trained and directed.
  • Lift and move patients.
  • Maintain the condition of the emergency response vehicle.
  • Maintain, clean, and restock emergency supplies and equipment.
  • Openly communicate with the public (patient, patient's friends and family, etc.), government (police, utilities, etc.), and private sector (doctors, nurses, etc.) in an effective and efficient manner conducive to excellent patient advocacy.
  • Effectively interact with individuals, families, and patients from a diverse group of cultures and backgrounds.
  • Evaluate and interpret information and make decisions with a partner.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Clean driving record over the past 3 years
  • No major traffic accidents in the past 5 years
  • Healthcare or rescue service background (Preferred)
  • Pre-existing BLS-CPR license (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety equipment when exposure to infectious organisms, agents, and toxic chemicals.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and clinics.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate and interpret information and make decisions with a partner.
  • Ability to remain calm during stressful situations.
