Job description

Summary/Objective
The Quality Engineer position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems and processes that ensure products meet customer specifications and company standards. This role supports both the manufacturing and distribution sides of the business, ensuring product quality, supplier compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards and procedures in accordance with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other relevant standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address non-conformances.
  • Establish inspection criteria First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspections for manufactured and assembled products.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop inspection criteria, test procedures, and acceptance limits specific to tolerance, conformance and overall quality.
  • Analyze quality data using statistical tools to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Participate in new product development (NPD) projects to ensure that quality considerations for early in the design and prototyping stages.
  • Manage and maintain quality documentation such as control plans, inspection procedures, PPAPs, FMEAs, and work instructions tailored to precision mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Support internal and external audits, including customer-specific quality audits for aerospace and defense applications.
  • Work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve nonconformances, deviations
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in problem-solving and process optimization projects.
  • Assist with training employees on quality standards, procedures, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Foster a culture of precision, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred) OR Equivalent Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution quality role (light manufacturing or assembly experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA, and quality tools (SPC, FMEA, PPAP, 8D, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of drawings, tolerances, and inspection methods.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and quality software tools.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.
  • Experience in supplier quality or distribution environments.
  • Familiarity with Lean / Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with inspection equipment (CMM, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
