Job description

Position Summary

We are hiring a Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance personnel, optimize toolroom and equipment uptime, and drive operational reliability across heavy equipment. This supervisory role oversees daily technician schedules, coordinates preventative maintenance strategies, manages spare parts, and works alongside outside vendors to ensure safe, continuous manufacturing performance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Uptime & Equipment Engineering: Review component wear and machine performance to enhance equipment reliability. Deploy Lean tools—including 5S, standard operating procedures, and process stabilization—to reduce unscheduled downtime.
  • Precision Machining Oversight: Provide technical direction for computer numerical control (CNC) turning equipment, including Okuma and Mori Seiki systems. Coach personnel on lathe operation, setup validation, and quality verification using CMMs, calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges.
  • Workforce Management & Training: Supervise daily floor maintenance activities, establish individual skill-development plans, and train technicians on advanced mechanical and electrical repair methods.
  • Planning, Scheduling & CMMS: Organize weekly preventative maintenance schedules, assign work orders, track equipment repair histories, and log all shop-floor activities inside SAP.
  • Parts Management & Contractor Oversight: Monitor local spare parts inventory, streamline MRO procurement, and direct third-party contractors and equipment field service engineers.
  • EHS Commitment: Enforce site safety compliance, perform risk assessments prior to major machine teardowns, and model safe working behaviors during all maintenance operations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, paired with at least two years of post-secondary technical education, trade school coursework, or apprenticeship training in industrial mechanics, mechatronics, or CNC technology. Bachelors is highly preferred.
  • Field Experience: 2+ years of industrial maintenance background with demonstrated expertise diagnosing electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical breakdowns. Direct experience repairing CNC machine tools is preferred.
  • Systems Proficiency: Practical experience utilizing enterprise CMMS platforms (SAP) and time-tracking applications (Kronos), along with standard Microsoft Office software.
  • Technical & Diagnostic Skills: Methodical approach to root-cause failure analysis, schematic reading, and process improvement to lower overall operating costs.
  • Shift & On-Call Requirements: Willingness to work a primary day shift, participate in a weekend rotation, and handle emergency call-in support when production disruptions occur.
  • Background Check: Hiring is contingent upon passing standard post-offer drug testing, medical evaluations, and background screenings.

Workplace Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across cross-functional plant departments.
