Job description

Mechanically Inclined Warehouse Associate
Applicants with experience in automotive work, construction, equipment operation, landscaping, farming, military, welding, fabrication, or the skilled trades are strongly encouraged to apply.
Fischer Auction & Appraisal is looking for a hardworking, mechanically inclined Warehouse Associate to join our growing team. This is not a desk job and it is not a position where you'll be standing around all day. This is a hands on, physically demanding role where you'll be unloading trucks, organizing auction inventory, operating equipment, working outdoors in the sun, assisting customers, and helping keep our warehouse running efficiently. We're looking for someone who enjoys fixing things and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. If you're the type of person who can jump start a vehicle, replace a battery, troubleshoot equipment, use hand and power tools confidently, or figure out why something isn't working, we'd love to meet you. You do not need to be a certified mechanic. We are looking for someone who is naturally mechanical, eager to learn, and has a strong work ethic. We promote from within, so this position offers opportunities to grow into larger responsibilities for the right person.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Unloading semi trucks and organizing incoming inventory
  • Loading customers using forklifts and warehouse equipment
  • Sorting, palletizing, moving, and staging auction items
  • Cataloging inventory and creating descriptions
  • Photographing auction items for online sales
  • Assisting with auction setup, preview days, and checkout
  • Receiving consignments and accurately tagging inventory
  • Helping troubleshoot equipment, vehicles, trailers, and warehouse tools
  • Performing basic mechanical tasks such as jump starting vehicles, changing batteries, replacing small parts, tightening hardware, and assisting with equipment maintenance
  • Keeping the warehouse clean, organized, and safe
  • Occasionally traveling to offsite auction locations
  • Working as part of a fast paced team to accomplish daily goals
What We're Looking For
Required
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable using hand and power tools
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Reliable vehicle for offsite work (we do have out of town work)
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
  • Able to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly throughout the day
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Comfortable getting dirty and performing physical labor
  • Basic computer skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Preferred
  • Forklift experience (we can train the right person)
  • Warehouse experience
  • Experience working on vehicles, trailers, equipment, machinery, or small engines
  • Construction, landscaping, automotive, farming, military, or trades experience
This Job Is Probably For You If...
  • Friends ask you to help fix things.
  • You know how to safely use tools.
  • You've changed a battery or jump started a vehicle.
  • You enjoy figuring out why something isn't working.
  • You like staying busy.
  • Sitting behind a desk sounds miserable.
  • You take pride in hard work.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding warehouse position.
Expect to:
  • Be on your feet most of the day.
  • Lift, push, and move heavy items.
  • Work outdoors in the California sun.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures.
If you're looking for an easy warehouse position, this is probably not the right fit. If you enjoy working hard, staying active, solving problems, and being part of a team, we'd love to hear from you.
