HDR is seeking a Senior Mechanical/Process Engineer to support our growing portfolio of liquified natural gas (LNG), industrial gas, and hydrocarbon infrastructure projects across North America. This role is ideal for engineers with strong fundamentals in piping systems, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, or process systems who are interested in applying their experience to LNG and cryogenic applications.
The successful candidate will work with a multi-discipline group of engineers and technicians delivering engineering and design services for energy and industrial facilities. Projects include system upgrades, life extension, and new facility design. Direct LNG experience is not required; candidates with strong core mechanical engineering experience will be supported in developing LNG and cryogenic expertise.

In the role of Senior Mechanical/Process Engineer - LNG & Industrial Systems, we'll count on you to:

  • Develop mechanical and/or process system designs including P&IDs, equipment sizing, detailed design, and system calculations
  • Prepare equipment and design specifications and support procurement activities
  • Perform pipe stress analysis (AutoPIPE) and engineering evaluations
  • Support feasibility studies, conceptual design, and project cost estimating
  • Serve as a mechanical or discipline lead on multiple projects, coordinating with multi-discipline teams
  • Support bid evaluations, vendor coordination, and contractor interactions
  • Provide field support including site visits, inspections, and commissioning/start-up assistance
  • Support client presentations, proposals, and ongoing client relationship development
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with LNG, cryogenic systems, or industrial gas facilities preferred
  • Experience with piping design and stress analysis tools such as AutoPIPE or Caesar II
  • Experience with hydrocarbon or industrial facility mechanical systems including rotating equipment, compressors, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels
  • Experience supporting feasibility studies and large-scale project development
  • Familiarity with 3D design tools such as NavisWorks, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or Revit
  • Experience with project scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera
  • Demonstrated ability and interest to act as a Team Leader
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project and AutoCAD
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, previous team coordination and project management experience
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
