Welding Robot Operator Position Summary

The Welding Robot Operator is responsible for the setup, programming, operation, monitoring, and routine maintenance of robotic welding equipment. This role ensures robotic systems are operating safely and efficiently while producing welds that meet company quality standards. The successful candidate will also assist with quality inspections, process improvements, and minor welding repairs as required.


Hours of Work

  • Monday to Thursday: 6:00 am – 3:30 pm
  • Friday: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm


Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, program, and operate robotic welding systems to perform production welding.
  • Adjust welding parameters to ensure optimal weld quality and production efficiency.
  • Monitor robotic equipment during operation and make necessary process adjustments.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on robotic welding equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues.
  • Report equipment concerns and coordinate repairs when necessary.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality specifications and company standards.
  • Identify defects and take corrective action where appropriate.
  • Complete minor weld repairs or touch-ups on welds that require correction or cannot be completed by the robot.
  • Load and unload parts from robotic welding cells.
  • Utilize hand and power tools as required.
  • Read and follow technical drawings, work instructions, and production documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve robotic welding processes.


 Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or welding environment.
  • Previous experience operating robotic welding equipment in a CWB-certified manufacturing environment is preferred. Familiarity with CSA W47.1 requirements is an asset
  • Additional training or certification related to robotic equipment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of 3D AutoCAD drafting is considered an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
