Job description

ABOUT DAN'S PRIZE - Inspired People. Inspired Food.

Dan's Prize Inc., processes and packages meat product at two production facilities located in Browerville and Long Prairie MN. We have over 600 different meat products; we work with beef, pork, chicken, and turkey. Dan's Prize started in 1986 with 12 employees, and our continued growth has brought us to where we are today with over 530 people.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs preventive maintenance on wide variety of packaging and processing equipment.
  • Specifies parts required. Orders if needed, and make needed repairs based on PM.
  • Assists with training new and/or less skilled maintenance and production personnel.
  • Troubleshoots basic electrical problems using various test equipment and ladder logic diagrams.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical problems using various measurement equipment and mechanical expertise.
  • Devises, plans, and completes mechanical upgrades, modifications and overhauls.
  • Completes changeovers on production lines by following changeover check sheet and recommend modification to the sheet as needed.
  • Performs routine daily setup and adjustment of all production equipment.
  • Follow all safety and company policies.
  • Participate in safety and quality training.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to repair equipment using hand tools.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting ability.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Ability to read the input/output of electrical schematics.
  • Helpful i.e. Knowledge of PLC's (Programmable Logic Controllers).
  • High School education or the equivalent.
  • Demonstrated work experience in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and use custom equipment and assist in installations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Initiative to work independently.
  • Lift, carry or move light/heavy loads up to 50lbs
  • Crawl over, under and into equipment as necessary to perform job duties.
  • Work weekends when plant enters busy season and when needed.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing setting preferably food manufacturing.

SALARY:

  • Pay Rate - $27.00-$38.00
