Position Overview

In Boulder, Colorado, Xerox‑Lexmark operates sophisticated, highly automated manufacturing processes in a dynamic production environment.

As a key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer – Process will support daily manufacturing operations, drive continuous improvement, and lead high‑impact engineering projects. This position requires strong mechanical engineering expertise, collaborative problem‑solving skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate combines hands‑on technical capability with strong project management skills and enjoys working cross‑functionally to solve complex manufacturing and process challenges.

What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate with engineers, maintenance technicians, and process operators to troubleshoot complex issues and implement process improvements.
  • Design, specify, procure, and install mechanical equipment for new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Lead the mechanical scope of large and small engineering projects, including project definition, scheduling, budgeting, resource coordination, installation, and documentation.
  • Prioritize competing projects while balancing immediate production needs with longer‑term engineering objectives.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors performing equipment placement and mechanical installations.
  • Identify root causes of manufacturing and process issues and efficiently develop and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Apply structured problem‑solving and LEAN methodologies to improve equipment performance, process capability, reliability, and efficiency.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5–10 years of relevant industrial, manufacturing, or process engineering experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively within cross‑functional teams, both as a team leader and participant.
  • Experience applying structured problem‑solving methodologies such as A3 and Six Sigma.
  • Working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to take projects from initial definition and scoping through installation, commissioning, and final documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in an active production environment.
Technical Skills
  • Experience working with industrial automation and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to develop and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and equipment layouts.
  • Experience designing, specifying, and procuring mechanical components and systems, including robotics and precision linear actuators.
  • Ability to develop drawings using appropriate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for precision‑machined components.
  • Knowledge of material selection based on application, performance, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills with the ability to implement effective solutions to process and equipment problems.
  • Experience with SolidWorks is desired but not required.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment and respond effectively to changing production and project priorities.
