Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of industrial equipment, machinery safety systems, and fuel train assemblies used in combustion and process heating applications. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, machine safeguarding standards, fuel delivery systems, and applicable safety regulations. The ideal candidate is experienced in designing reliable, code-compliant systems that enhance employee safety, equipment performance, and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical systems, assemblies, weldments and components for industrial machinery and combustion applications.
  • Develop and review fuel train systems, including valves, regulators, pressure switches, piping layouts, and control components.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and regulations, including NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, and applicable local codes.
  • Perform machine risk assessments and incorporate safeguarding solutions into equipment designs.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), Routings P&IDโ€™s and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and field service teams to develop integrated solutions.
  • Evaluate existing equipment designs and recommend improvements related to safety, reliability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for installed systems, including fuel delivery components and mechanical assemblies.
  • Participate in safety reviews, design reviews, hazard analyses, and customer project meetings.
  • Conduct engineering calculations related to fluid flow, pressure drop, stress analysis, thermal expansion, and mechanical system performance.
  • Provide technical support to sales, project management, manufacturing, and customers as needed.
  • Enter and maintain accurate ERP data.
  • CAD Admin support as needed.
  • Assist with product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial equipment, machinery design, combustion systems, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of fuel train systems for natural gas, propane, or other industrial fuels.
  • Understanding of machine safeguarding principles and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Experience interpreting and applying NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, and other relevant engineering and safety standards.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with industrial burners, boilers, ovens, furnaces, dryers, or combustion control systems.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 86, NFPA 54, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and ANSI B11 standards.
  • Experience performing machine safety assessments or machinery CE/functional safety reviews.
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled systems and industrial automation.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification preferred.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, industrial safety, or process heating environments.
