Location / Work Setup
This role is based out of Paragon Mechanical’s Morgan Hill office.
The Piping Estimator will work closely with the estimating, project management, purchasing, and operations teams. Some local travel may be required for job walks, bid reviews, client meetings, or project coordination.
Job Summary
Paragon Mechanical is hiring a Piping Estimator to support the company’s commercial and industrial piping division.
This is a hands-on estimating role for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable reviewing plans, performing takeoffs, requesting vendor and subcontractor pricing, and preparing accurate estimates for mechanical piping projects.
The right candidate will be able to read and understand bid documents, communicate clearly with general contractors and vendors, maintain accurate project information, and work closely with senior leadership and project managers to help Paragon submit complete, competitive, and accurate bids.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in mechanical construction, commercial or industrial piping, construction takeoffs, or estimating support who is looking to grow within a well-established mechanical contractor.
What You’ll Do
  • Review bid documents, drawings, specifications, scope sheets, and project requirements
  • Perform detailed piping takeoffs for commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects
  • Request quotes from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Build complete and accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Use Paragon’s estimating and software systems to prepare and maintain bid information
  • Track and organize project information, bid documents, proposals, change orders, and related communications
  • Communicate with general contractors, vendors, purchasing, internal team members, and clients
  • Work closely with senior executives, project managers, and operations teams to ensure estimates align with project goals, scope, timelines, and budgets
  • Attend job walks, bid reviews, project meetings, and internal coordination meetings as needed
  • Help maintain accurate records, change order logs, proposal information, and project-related documentation
  • Support a smooth handoff from estimating to project management once projects are awarded
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in construction, mechanical contracting, piping, estimating, project coordination, or a related role
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, architectural, and piping drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to perform construction takeoffs and organize estimate information
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with industrial and commercial piping projects
  • Prior experience with construction takeoffs or estimating
  • Previous experience in mechanical construction or commercial / industrial contracting
  • Experience using Bluebeam, Acrobat, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience supporting project managers, purchasing teams, or field operations
  • Familiarity with proposals, change orders, bid reviews, and estimating handoffs
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Acrobat, and Bluebeam
  • Ability to read project documents and work carefully with technical information
  • Ability to work full-time from the Morgan Hill office
