Job description

Summary: The Mechanic is required to perform a range of duties and responsibilities that can differ from day to day depending on the jobs that they are assigned. This can include anything from routine maintenance work to specialized repairs.

Reports to: Yard and Fleet Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assess vehicles and machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues.

2. Communicates vehicular/equipment defects or problems.

3. Provide routine inspections of vehicles and equipment/machinery.

4. Prepare quotes and work estimates as requested.

5. Keep an accurate log of all work performed.

6. Maintain and clean shop equipment and tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition at all times.

7. Adhere to company work safety policies.

8. Maintains and controls a small inventory of hand tools for both maintenance and install operations.

9. Manages yard organization and cleanliness. Works with all Field Operations Managerโ€™s to ensure yard organization and cleanliness is being maintained.

10. Ensure all assets (vehicles and equipement) have a designated area in the yard.

11. Ensures all trucks are being regularly serviced at recommended intervals for routine maintenance needs.

12. Keeps service records for all company vehicles, heavy equipment, and small equipement.

13. Tracks mileage on trucks, ensures mileage reports our accurate. Audits mileage with fuel usage.

14. Tracks equipment needs and usage. Ensures routine maintenance service schedule is being followed and that all Green Summit equipment is working properly.

15. Ensures shop is organized and running efficiently. Manages a parts-on-hand inventory for timely repairs.

16. Reports equipment damaged or broken from neglect or misuse to proper Field Operations Manager.

17. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

ยท Valid driver's license.

ยท Pass a background check.

ยท Hands-on experience working with small engines.

ยท Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines such as those found in lawn mowers, chainsaws, and blowers.

ยท Understanding of engine components, fuel systems, electrical systems, and mechanical systems specific to small engines.

ยท Must have own set of tools necessary for performing repairs and maintenance on small engines and fleet vehicles.

ยท Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
