Maintenance Technician - Longview, WA
The Opportunity:
The Maintenance Mechanic Technician is responsible for maintaining the performance and reliability of paperboard converting equipment by performing installations, repairs, and troubleshooting across the sheeting and finishing processes. The role executes corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance to support efficient and safe production operations.
Starting Pay: $42.11/hr. (upon completion of Electrical Training Program, increase to $51.43/hr.)
Shift: Available to train on 1st shift and move to rotating shift (4 on and 4 off, may vary based on production needs.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
  • Execute corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance work orders as planned, supporting asset reliability and minimizing downtime.
  • Troubleshoot, install, repair, and maintain paperboard converting equipment and general facility systems using mechanical and electrical expertise.
  • Promote and uphold a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with personal safety, food safety, and equipment safety standards.
  • Participate in process improvement and root cause analysis initiatives to reduce waste, improve productivity, and enhance equipment performance.
  • Provide accurate repair time estimates, complete maintenance documentation, and support training, reliability programs, and team collaboration.

What you need to succeed:
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift, including rotating shifts as well as weekends.
  • 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience
  • Previous experience in a paperboard converting facility a plus.
  • Excellent leadership communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal.
  • Experience troubleshooting and can demonstrate knowledge of: Electrical schematics, Mechanical systems, PLCs, HVAC, Air Compressors, Hydraulic systems and/or paperboard converting systems based on previous experience

The starting rate for this position is $42.11, depending on your role, level and location. Increase to $51.43 upon completion of Training Program.
