Position Overview

We are seeking a Semiconductor Field Service Technician III to join our team supporting high-performance PVD vacuum tools in Manassas, VA. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge thin film deposition (PVD) technology, directly interfacing with customers and supporting critical equipment in the semiconductor industry. You'll install, maintain, and troubleshoot vacuum systems and robotics inside customer cleanroom environments.

This is a customer-facing, on-site role, with an initial 36 month training program in Japan. Ideal for those with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience in high vacuum or semiconductor environments.


Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, inspect, calibrate, and maintain advanced semiconductor process equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair high-vacuum PVD tools and associated robotics
  • Perform software installs and updates; log revision history
  • Collect and analyze data related to software and hardware performance
  • Accurately document all maintenance and repair activities
  • Participate in equipment installations and on-site training sessions
  • Communicate effectively with both U.S. and Japan-based engineering teams
  • Provide support to customer engineers and escalate complex issues as needed
  • Maintain inventory levels of spare parts and consumables

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent
24 years of relevant experience, preferably in semiconductor or vacuum equipment service
Experience with:

  • Vacuum pumps and systems (PVD highly preferred)
  • Pneumatic and robotic components
  • PLCs, electrical/mechanical schematics
    Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in physically demanding cleanroom environments
    Valid drivers license and ability to travel internationally for training
    Ability to work flexible shifts and respond to on-call service needs
    Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with multi-chamber cluster tools
  • Robotics servicing and control systems familiarity
  • Japanese/English bilingual ability (not required, but helpful)
  • Cleanroom or semiconductor fab experience
  • Strong familiarity with high-vacuum technologies or PVD processes

Additional Details
  • Must be comfortable working in a cleanroom environment wearing full protective gear.
  • Must comply with all customer site requirements (including COVID-19 protocols, where applicable).
  • Domestic and international travel required, including an initial 36 months of training in Japan.
  • This position is hourly paid with overtime eligibility providing great earning potential.
