Job description

We are seeking a Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) with strong HVAC and MEP design experience to lead the engineering execution of commercial building projects. This is a hands-on technical role focused on engineering design, construction documentation, and construction administration-not project management.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Professional Engineer who can take full technical ownership of mechanical building systems while collaborating closely with architects and multidisciplinary design teams. Projects include healthcare, veterinary, commercial, municipal, and other institutional facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop mechanical engineering designs for commercial, healthcare, veterinary, municipal, and institutional building projects.
  • Design HVAC and other mechanical building systems in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, specifications, equipment selections, and construction documents.
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record, providing technical oversight and engineering judgment throughout the design process.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with architects and other engineering disciplines to produce fully integrated project designs.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and other technical documentation during construction.
  • Perform site visits to verify existing conditions, evaluate construction progress, and resolve field issues.
  • Identify constructability challenges and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Support projects through inspections, punch lists, owner training, and project closeout.

Requirements

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience (10+ years preferred).
  • Strong experience designing HVAC, mechanical, or MEP systems for commercial building projects.
  • Experience with healthcare, veterinary, institutional, municipal, or similar facilities is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of engineering calculations, construction documents, equipment selection, specifications, and applicable building codes.
  • Ability to independently produce and review engineering designs while providing technical leadership.
  • Candidates must have hands-on engineering and design experience. Project management experience alone is not sufficient.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Health insurance and retirement plan options.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Opportunity to work on diverse and technically challenging building projects.
  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment with opportunities for professional growth.
