Position Description

Job description
As a member of the Exxel Pacific TEAM, the System Administrator is the first point of contact for supporting IT needs of employees. This position reports to and will work closely with the Director of IT to ensure consistency in procedures and assist employees in troubleshooting various issues. With 170 users and 25+ sites, we are looking to expand our IT staff. This position is full-time onsite at our Bellingham office, with regular onsite visits to jobsites generally in Whatcom County and the Greater Seattle area.
Essential Functions
  • General tier 2/3 user support, occasional tier 1 coverage.
  • Server administration, management, configuration, maintenance, backups, and support across a hybrid on-premises and cloud environment.
  • Network administration of switches, firewalls, VPNs, LANs/WLANs/VLANs, etc.
  • Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online administration, including mail flow, security policies, and Exchange hybrid configuration.
  • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) administration, including identity/access management, MFA, and conditional access policies.
  • Administration of email security/anti-spam and anti-phishing filtering, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) platforms.
  • Endpoint management and mass software deployment via Microsoft Intune (or equivalent MDM), including patching and device compliance policies.
  • Group policy and/or Intune configuration profile management.
  • SQL Server administration, primarily backups and maintenance.
  • Management, configuration, and maintenance of ESXi hosts and iSCSI SAN.
  • Support of PBX/VOIP users, with an upcoming transition to Microsoft Teams Phone.
  • Support of data backups, on-premises and cloud.
  • Provide and receive cross-training with and from coworkers to build team-wide coverage and skill redundancy.
  • Support end-user security awareness and phishing training programs, including monitoring and responding to reported incidents.
  • There will be occasional work outside of regular business hours (almost always with prior planning) and shared on-call duties rotated among staff.

Position Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience supporting end users and administering Windows servers/networks and Microsoft 365 in a business environment. Relevant experience may substitute for a formal degree.
  • Skills with SMB/SME network management, such as scripting/PowerShell, group policy and Intune configuration, documentation, automated monitoring tools, and trouble ticket systems.
  • Previous MSP/consulting experience beneficial.
  • Familiarity using/supporting these products/technologies: Windows 10/11 Pro, Windows Server 2019/2022, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams), Microsoft Intune, Enterprise Wifi, IP Telephony, Dell Latitude laptops, Microsoft Surface devices, iPads (used for specific line-of-business apps, not general use).
  • CCNA/CCNP and current Microsoft role-based certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, or Azure Administrator Associate) not required but beneficial; relevant experience may suffice.
  • Must have reliable transportation, specifically able to get to jobsites and transport equipment.
  • Additional specific products that would be beneficial to have experience with: Meraki firewall/VPN, VMware ESXi, Bluebeam Revu, Procore, Autodesk.

The base salary range for this position is $37-$48 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
