Job Description
The UAB Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is actively recruiting for faculty positions at all levels of rank and academic track to join our team. Current needs for the division include physicians with a focus in Hepatology and pediatric liver transplant. Candidates focusing on careers as physician-scientists or clinician educators will be equally considered. A track record of quality investigative/clinical work and program development is preferred.
The selected candidate will join Our Pediatric Liver Transplant team which includes pediatric gastroenterologists with a special focus in transplant hepatology, skilled liver transplant surgeons, liver transplant coordinators, transplant pharmacists and nutritionists, transplant social workers, child life specialists, and psychologists. The division offers a full array of clinical services and programs, in both inpatient and outpatient settings, provides comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation and management of all pediatric gastrointestinal, liver and nutritional problems.
The Division is exceedingly collaborative, collegial and personifies a kind and nurturing environment. It comprises a group of 17 faculty (including basic scientist), 6 fellows (two per year), 8 Nurse practitioners, and an exceptional clinic support and administrative staff. Additionally, 4 full-time faculty will be joining us Summer 2026. The institution is highly supportive of our growth and advancing our services to the children of Alabama and beyond. With introduction of trans-nasal endoscopy, we are among the first centers in the Southeast to offer this service. COA ranks in all 10 sub-specialties in USNWR. Faculty have opportunities for clinical/translational/basic research, quality improvement, community outreach and advocacy, medical education, and leadership in a supportive and conducive academic environment of the UAB system. The Department and Division leadership is committed to faculty empowerment and aim to personalize career advancement while fostering scientific and academic conversations.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with the experience of the candidate and will consist of a guaranteed salary as well as a generous incentive plan linked to productivity.
