Cost Estimator – Full-TimePosition Overview

A leading provider of specialized marine services seeks a Cost Estimator to play a pivotal role in planning, design, and pricing of bids for large-scale projects. You will develop cost estimates and execution plans with mentorship from experienced professionals, presenting recommendations to senior management. This position reports to the Vice President of Estimating and offers significant growth opportunities.

Location: Houston, TX | Employment Type: Full-Time, Salary Exempt

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce accurate cost estimates for hard bid projects
  • Review and summarize key elements of project plans and specifications
  • Create clear, concise overview drawings for presentations and discussions
  • Present project analysis and estimates during bid review sessions with senior management
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills in estimate development
  • Collaborate with support departments in a team environment
  • Prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and manage time effectively
  • Provide estimating support to Project Managers during project execution
  • Monitor project costs, production, and budget throughout construction
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent relevant work experience)
  • Minimum of one of the following:
    • 3 years of relevant experience in dredging and/or marine construction
    • 5 years of relevant experience in cost estimating in a comparable industry
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Effective communicator with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to evaluate complex data, weigh solutions, and make informed decisions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for senior management reporting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PowerBI or similar analytics software
