Director of Finance

Department: Finance
Reports To: Managing Director
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Work Arrangement: On-site with one Smart Working day per week available after six months of successful employment
Travel: Domestic and international travel required

Position Summary

The Director of Finance is a key member of the leadership team responsible for overseeing the financial operations, controls, reporting, planning, and financial strategy of the organization. This position partners closely with executive and operational leadership to ensure financial integrity, support business growth, improve profitability, and maintain compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have significant finance leadership experience within a manufacturing environment, strong hands‑on knowledge of SAP, and the ability to operate effectively within an international organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the overall finance and accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, cost accounting, and financial analysis.
  • Provide financial leadership and strategic guidance to the Managing Director and leadership team.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing and reporting processes.
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, KPIs, and financial performance against established business objectives.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, margins, inventory, labor, overhead, and operational performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, tax requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Utilize SAP for financial reporting, analysis, planning, and operational integration.
  • Partner with Operations, Sales, Procurement, HR, and other departments to support business decisions and improve financial performance.
  • Oversee and develop finance and accounting team members while establishing clear expectations, accountability, and succession planning.
  • Support capital expenditure analysis, investment decisions, and long‑term financial planning.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, financial institutions, and other business partners as required.
  • Collaborate with international corporate leadership and provide financial information in accordance with group reporting requirements.
  • Travel internationally as needed for meetings, training, audits, business reviews, and collaboration with global leadership.
Leadership Expectations

The Director of Finance is expected to operate as both a financial leader and business partner. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, accountability, integrity, and the ability to challenge and support business decisions through accurate financial analysis. This role requires a leader who can balance strategic responsibilities with hands‑on involvement in day‑to‑day financial operations.

Smart Working & Travel

This position is primarily on‑site. Following six months of successful employment, the Director of Finance will be eligible for one Smart Working day per week, subject to business needs and company policy.

Domestic and international travel is required based on business needs. The successful candidate must be able to travel abroad and maintain any documentation necessary for international business travel.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Significant progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership experience at the manager, controller, director, or comparable level.
  • Manufacturing industry experience is required.
  • Strong SAP experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing finance/accounting teams.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, internal controls, and financial analysis.
  • Experience working with manufacturing cost structures, inventory, standard costing, variances, and operational financial performance.

  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or other advanced financial qualification.
  • Paychex experience preferred.
  • Experience working within a multinational or European‑based organization.
  • Italian language proficiency is a plus.
  • Experience within the heat exchanger, HVAC, refrigeration, thermal management, or related manufacturing industries is a plus.
  • Strong business acumen related to engineered‑to‑order or industrial manufacturing environments.
