Chief Executive Officer (CEO)- Addiction Treatment and Mental Health

Thorpe Recovery Centre – Blackfoot, AB (10 minutes west of Lloydminster)

Salary: $135,000 - $150,000 per year based on qualifications


We're seeking an experienced executive with a background in addictions, mental health, healthcare, or human services to lead one of Western Canada's premier addiction treatment organizations.


Thorpe Recovery Centre is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead one of Western Canada's most respected addiction treatment organizations. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide overall leadership, operational oversight, strategic direction, and community representation for the organization.


Located just outside Lloydminster in Blackfoot, Alberta, Thorpe Recovery Centre provides residential treatment, medically supported detox, and family programming to more than 700 individuals annually.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and organizational direction
  • Oversee daily operations, programs, finances, and human resources
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to support governance and long-term planning
  • Lead budgeting, financial management, and organizational sustainability initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, funders, community partners, donors, and stakeholders
  • Act as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the organization
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture


Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred. A combination of education and significant executive leadership experience may be considered.
  • Additional executive leadership education, certifications, or specialized training is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive senior leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, operational leadership, financial management, and team development.
  • Strong understanding of governance, organizational leadership, and human resource management.
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Familiarity with applicable legislation, regulations, accreditation standards, and ethical practices relevant to healthcare, addictions, and residential treatment services.
  • Experience in healthcare, social services, addictions, mental health, nonprofit, or related sectors is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
