Role:

The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver outstanding service to Members by accurately processing a variety of financial transactions. These transactions include handling cash, balancing accounts, and ensuring each transaction is conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and procedures. The role also includes actively promoting Mazuma's products and services to Members, thereby supporting their financial needs. It is essential to maintain a professional, organized, and efficient work environment at all times.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Member Service and Engagement: Deliver exceptional service by greeting Members warmly, addressing their needs, and resolving any issues promptly and professionally. Strive to create a positive experience for every Member.

Transaction Processing: Accurately and efficiently process Member transactions, which include deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, savings bonds, check cashing, and money orders. Ensure all transactions are completed in compliance with established Credit Union policies and procedures.

Cash Drawer Management: Maintain accurate cash drawer balancing throughout the workday and promptly reconcile any discrepancies to uphold financial integrity. Adhere to established procedures for cash controls to ensure the security of both Member funds and Credit Union assets.

Record Keeping and DocumentationResponsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation of all transactions and Member interactions.

 Member Resolution:  Promptly resolving Member concerns in a professional manner is a key aspect of the role. Complex issues should be escalated to leadership as needed to ensure timely and effective solutions.

Product and Service Recommendations: Evaluates opportunities to introduce Mazuma’s products, services, and marketing promotions that align with Members’ needs, providing solutions customized to their individual circumstances. When suitable, Members are referred to specialists in the branch,  business, mortgage, and wealth management.

Compliance and Security: Remain fully compliant with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as well as all Credit Union policies, procedures, and security measures. Maintain strict confidentiality of all Member information in accordance with Credit Union standards and regulatory requirements.

Professionalism and Teamwork: Team Members are required to consistently maintain a professional and orderly work environment, including presenting an appearance that aligns with Credit Union standards. Actively fostering a positive team dynamic enhances branch performance and ensures Member satisfaction.

 Branch Operations Support: Provide assistance to other branch teams and perform operational responsibilities as required, including support for opening and closing procedures and management of vault transactions, to ensure efficient daily operations. Relationship Building: Develop and maintain constructive relationships with Members and other Team Members to cultivate an inclusive and supportive workplace atmosphere.

Knowledge and Skills:

Required Experience: 

  • Cash handling experience (e.g., cashier, retail sales).
  • Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience: 

  • Prior retail banking experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial products and services is a plus

Education:

Required Education: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day. Must be capable of climbing and descending stairs in emergency situations. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer, tablet, telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance, including Saturdays.

Work Environment

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work environment with minimal noise.
