Job description

The Facility Technician is responsible for maintaining the manufacturing facility, utilities, and supporting infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role performs preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and inspections of building systems, utility equipment, and facility assets while supporting production requirements and compliance with safety standards.

Position Summary:

The Facility Technician is responsible for maintaining the manufacturing facility, utilities, and supporting infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role performs preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and inspections of building systems, utility equipment, and facility assets while supporting production requirements and compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility systems and equipment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, compressed air, water, electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facility equipment and infrastructure.
  • Respond to facility-related work orders and emergency maintenance requests.
  • Support installation, modification, and relocation of facility equipment and utilities.
  • Monitor utility systems to ensure uninterrupted operation of manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain facility grounds, including exterior maintenance and general housekeeping as needed.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and projects.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment history in maintenance management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety requirements.
  • Assist with facility improvement projects and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Support production teams by minimizing downtime related to facility systems.
  • Other duties assigned 

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of facilities maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and utility systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for work order management and documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical degree or vocational training in maintenance, electrical, HVAC, or related field.
  • Experience with industrial utility systems, boilers, compressors, or refrigeration systems.
  • OSHA, HVAC, electrical, or maintenance certifications.
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to crouch, stoop, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work anywhere from 8-12 hours per shift.
  • Ability to work overtime, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work in a humid/hot work environment.
  • Ability to lift (up to 35lbs).

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to sharp metal corners and edges, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and the facility is not climate controlled.
