Maui Developer information

What is a Maui developer?

A Maui Developer is a software engineer who specializes in building cross-platform applications using .NET MAUI (Multi-platform App UI), a framework developed by Microsoft. .NET MAUI allows developers to create apps that run on Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows using a single codebase. Maui Developers typically use C# and XAML to design and implement user interfaces and functionality. Their role involves ensuring that applications look and perform well across multiple platforms, leveraging the capabilities and APIs of each operating system.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Maui developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Maui Developer, you need strong programming skills in C#, experience with .NET MAUI, and a solid understanding of cross-platform mobile and desktop application development. Familiarity with Visual Studio, XAML, Git, and knowledge of related frameworks or cloud services is typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective collaboration and communication skills help developers deliver robust, user-friendly applications. These skills ensure efficient development, maintainable code, and successful delivery of high-quality cross-platform solutions.

What are some common challenges Maui developers face when building cross-platform applications?

Maui Developers often encounter challenges related to ensuring consistent user experiences across different platforms, such as Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Differences in device capabilities and platform-specific APIs can require additional customization and thorough testing. Additionally, keeping up with frequent updates in .NET MAUI and third-party libraries can be demanding. Collaboration with designers and QA teams is essential to address these platform discrepancies and deliver high-quality apps.

What is the difference between Maui Developer vs Xamarin Developer?

AspectMaui DeveloperXamarin Developer

Industry UsageEmerging, with increasing adoption for new projectsEstablished, widely used for existing and new projects

The main difference between a Maui Developer and a Xamarin Developer lies in the framework used for cross-platform development. Maui Developers work with .NET MAUI, the newer framework designed to unify and simplify cross-platform app creation, while Xamarin Developers use the older Xamarin framework. Both roles require similar skills and target similar environments, but Maui is gaining popularity for its streamlined approach and future support.

Jolly is a Silicon Valley-based software company with more than 40,000 customers and millions of users, including many Fortune 500 companies and world-renowned organizations.

We are looking for a Product and Engineering Manager to lead the delivery and evolution of our cloud-based SaaS products built with MVC C# .NET, MAUI, and Microsoft Azure. Working directly with the founder, you will help shape product direction, translate customer and business needs into engineering execution, lead a team of developers, drive predictable releases, and build a culture of accountability and ownership. This is a hands-on leadership role with significant autonomy, broad responsibility, and the opportunity to grow into senior engineering leadership as the company scales.

Responsibilities Product Management
  • - Collect and triage feature requests, bug reports, and feedback from customer service, sales, and key clients
  • - Drive product improvements to ensure competitiveness and alignment with market and customer needs
  • - Maintain regular communication with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on product vision, priorities, and delivery timelines
  • - Engage with customers to validate feature needs and continuously improve the feedback loop
  • - Use product analytics, customer insights, and feedback to guide prioritization and product decisions
  • - Collaborate with senior architects and technical leadership to refine requirements and technical direction
  • - Define clear acceptance criteria for new features and collaborate with QA to ensure functional and UX requirements are met
  • - Create, prioritize, and manage work items in Jira; track progress, manage dependencies, and remove blockers
  • - Coordinate with DevOps and engineering teams to ensure timely, stable, and predictable releases
  • - Proactively identify delivery, technical, and product risks and work with stakeholders to mitigate them
  • - Own release commitments by driving execution, proactively following up on deliverables, and holding teams accountable for meeting agreed timelines
  • - Challenge estimates, priorities, and scope when necessary to balance technical quality, business objectives, and release schedules
  • - Escalate delivery risks early and drive timely decisions to keep projects on schedule
Engineering Leadership
  • - Lead or support a team of .NET MVC and MAUI developers building Azure-hosted SaaS products
  • - Promote adherence to code quality standards, development best practices, and review processes
  • - Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and predictable execution across the engineering team
  • - Mentor junior developers and encourage a culture of learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing
  • - Provide input to engineering leadership on capacity planning and staffing needs; support hiring activities as needed
Requirements
  • - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field from a reputable accredited university
  • - 8-12 years of software development, technical product management, or engineering leadership experience in B2B SaaS environments
  • - Strong background in C# .NET, MVC architecture, Azure cloud services, and modern SDLC practices
  • - Experience leading the development and release of web and cross-platform mobile applications (MAUI preferred)
  • - Proven ability to prioritize backlogs, manage Jira workflows, and drive predictable release schedules
  • - Demonstrated track record of holding engineering teams accountable and delivering complex SaaS products on schedule without compromising quality
  • - Strong understanding of software architecture, code quality, peer review, CI/CD, testing, and release management
  • - Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and make difficult prioritization decisions
  • - Strategic mindset with the ability to balance customer needs, technical debt, engineering capacity, and business objectives
Job Benefits
  • - Health insurance (including dental and vision)
  • - Retirement fund contribution
  • - Paid vacation
Compensation

$150,000 - $220,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
