Job description

Senior Electrical Power Engineer Aerospace Power Electronics

Austin, Texas

Design the Power Systems Behind Next-Generation Aerospace Technology

If you're a senior-level Electrical Engineer who loves the technical challenge of power electronics but also wants real ownership of what you design, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

We're seeking an Electrical Power Engineer III to develop advanced power systems used in next-generation aerospace and defense applications, including UAVs, missile systems, actuation systems, turbo generators, micro-turbines, and hybrid-electric propulsion.

This is not a narrow design role.

You'll have hands-on ownership of new products from initial proposal and architecture through detailed design, prototype bring-up, qualification testing, and production support.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

You'll work on sophisticated aerospace power technology including:

  • Motor controls and electromechanical systems

  • Power generation and distribution

  • DC-DC conversion

  • Active rectification

  • 3-phase power systems

  • Turbo generators

  • Servo-actuation systems

  • Hybrid-electric propulsion

  • Embedded power electronics

You'll have significant influence over how these systems are designed and how future product lines evolve.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll take power electronics projects from concept through production, including:

  • Developing electrical power systems for advanced aerospace products

  • Evaluating customer requirements and developing system requirements

  • Creating power system models using MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent tools

  • Designing 2+kW power conditioning and distribution systems

  • Designing motor controls, active rectification, DC-DC conversion, and 3-phase systems

  • Component selection and schematic capture

  • Simulation and PCB layout

  • Integrating sensors into closed-loop control systems

  • Supporting embedded firmware and software

  • Hands-on prototype bring-up and troubleshooting

  • Designing test stands, fixtures, and validation procedures

  • Performing verification and qualification testing

  • Supporting failure investigations and RCCA

  • Supporting products through manufacturing and production

What We're Looking For

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering

  • 8+ years of relevant power electronics experience

  • Strong motor control and electromechanical controls experience

  • Experience designing power conditioning and distribution systems of 2kW+

  • Power electronics hardware design experience

  • MATLAB/Simulink or similar modeling experience

  • Experience troubleshooting embedded power electronic systems

  • Failure investigation and RCCA experience

  • Understanding of reliability analysis including MTBF and FTA

Experience with aerospace configuration management, AS9100 manufacturing environments, and embedded firmware is highly desirable.

A master's degree in Engineering is a plus.

Work on Technology That Actually Flies

You'll join an international engineering organization developing specialized technology for aerospace, defense, and transportation applications.

The products developed here aren't theoretical. They're being designed for demanding applications including UAVs, missile systems, electric actuation, advanced power generation, and hybrid-electric propulsion.

For an experienced power electronics engineer who wants technical depth, hands-on engineering, and ownership from concept through production, this is a rare opportunity.

Compensation & Benefits

The company offers an excellent benefits package including:

  • Employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) match

  • Company-paid holidays

  • Paid Time Off

  • 9/80 work schedule
