Job description

The Opportunity:ย 

We are seeking an Intern for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. This position affords an immediate opportunity to apply analytical, problem-solving, communication and technology skills contributing to the development of solutions to challenging client issues. The Actuarial Co-op/Intern will have access to and work under the guidance and mentoring of talented senior level staff and will work independently and on teams to deliver consulting services to a broad and diverse range of defined benefit clients. The Actuarial Co-op/Intern will be encouraged to engage in continual learning and development activities with the goal to advance to higher level positions.

The Role:

The Actuarial Co-op/Intern is responsible for the completion of actuarial valuations for multiemployer pension plans, public pension plans and other actuarial projects under the supervision of experienced actuaries. Projects include but may not be limited to valuation activities and special project work addressing a myriad of unique and emerging retirement plan issues posed by client organizations.ย ย Project work may include exposure to retiree health and defined contribution plan matters.ย ย ย 

ย Key responsibilitiesย include but may not be limited to:

  • Researching and gathering information.
  • Reviewing and analyzing work products including plan data and financial statements.
  • Providing input to the development of solutions.
  • Creating and updating valuation programs and spreadsheet applications.
  • Assisting with report preparation and government filings and,
  • Working with senior actuary and consultant staff to support their effective presentation of work product to clients.

The qualified candidate must have:

  • Aย minimum of two years (and on-going) undergraduate education or an undergraduateย degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related discipline.
  • Completion of at least one actuarial exam is preferred and theย intent to attain actuarial accreditation is required.
  • 0-3 years of retirement plan actuarial experience within a consulting and/or insurance company environment.
  • Relevant computer and software skills (preferably Excel).
  • Task management skills.
  • Detail-orientation; organization and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively within a diverse group.
