Mathematics Intern Jobs in Kentucky (NOW HIRING)

The purpose of this position is to provide college students with practical, hands-on experience within the Police Department. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Shadowing Police Officers on ride along; shadowing detectives to learn investigative skills, techniques and practices; shadowing the Communication's Unit to observe how calls for service are received and dispatched, as well as observing the administrative tasks and record keeping; and shadowing our training division to learn about the hiring and academy process for new officers and the continuing education of current officers.
Qualifications

Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication
Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with the public.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
Ability to learn policies, procedures and performance standard pertaining to work.
Ability to compare, count, differentiate, measure and/or sort data and information.
Ability to assemble, copy, record and transcribe data.
Ability to follow a prescribed plan.
Mathematical Ability
Ability to add and subtract, measure, multiply and divide, and calculate percentages, fractions, and decimals.
Judgment and Situational Reasoning Ability
• Ability to follow instructions given in an emergency situation while paired with an officer.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion concerning information gleaned while interacting with sworn officers and tele-communications staff.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet and limbs in performing coordinated movements.
• Ability to exert physical effort in sedentary to moderate work, involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing and walking.
• Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, forms, sounds, tastes, odors, textures etc. associated with objects, materials or ingredients.
Environmental Adaptability
Ability, in regard to environmental factors such as temperature variations, odors, toxic agents, violence, noise, vibrations, wetness, disease and/or dust, to work under mildly unsafe and uncomfortable conditions.
