POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Chemical Engineering, in the area of complex fluids and ionic liquids, will work under the direction of Professor Maggie Qi to establish a coarse-grained simulation framework for non-Newtonian properties of biocompatible ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents. This position will focus on deriving mathematical equations and implementing them in coarse-grained simulation tools (molecular dynamics, dissipative particle dynamics etc.) to understand the dynamic properties of ionic liquids. The postdoc will also perform all-atom MD simulations to extract key chemical signatures for the coarse-grained model. Later this work will be combined with the group’s experimental characterizations on various chemicals and form a screening framework for biofuel processing, biomaterials etc.
