Location: Primarily Main Campus, but any location assigned by the appropriate administrator to include local high schools
Summary
To provide high quality, learner-centered instruction for students enrolled in Mathematics coursework at any KCKCC location while supporting the institution's mission, vision, and strategic plan. This is a POOL position. Application materials for this adjunct position accepted on an on-going basis due to increasing demand for courses in this subject area.
Position Description
  • Conduct all class sessions according to schedule
  • Provide instruction, activities, assignments, and assessments to adequately cover all Student Learning Objectives for the specific course(s) taught
  • Use teaching methods that emphasize application, cooperation and collaboration and engage students actively in their studies, encouraging them to become independent learners with higher-order thinking skills
  • Organize and explain content using methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experience
  • Assign and provide feedback for in- and out-of-class work; monitor student progress
  • Perform adequate assessment and analysis of assessment according to college requirements
  • Reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to arrive on time and be ready to teach course(s) during scheduled times
  • Ability to prepare curricular materials to convey learning objectives to students
  • Ability to effectively utilize Blackboard for posting assignments, assessing students, performances, and grading
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems independently
  • Ability to be organized and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work with various student, staff, and faculty population
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is required as a minimum for developmental mathematics classes
  • Master's degree in Mathematics or a Master's degree in a related field with 18 credit hours of graduate Mathematics coursework is required for college-level mathematics classes

Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience in an open enrollment, urban community college
  • Experience with using MyMathLab (MML) program
  • Experience with a Learning Management System such as Blackboard
  • Experience in learner-centered pedagogy
