Bloomfield Public Schools is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Multilingual Learner Tutor, Districtwide position


Work Year/ Work Week:  Ten-month position, 20 hours per week
Hourly Wage:  $33.71/hour
Multilingual Learner Tutor
The Multilingual Learner tutor plays a critical role in the academic achievement and emotional well-being of multilingual earners in Bloomfield Public Schools. ML staff support English language development through classroom content and supplemental materials. They encourage positive relationships with students and their families while accessing cross-cultural funds of knowledge, and making learning enjoyable and successful. 
Multilingual Tutor Qualifications: 







  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (TESOL certificate preferred but not required);
  • Prior experience as a tutor or teacher (working with ML/ELs preferred)  

Multilingual Tutor Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently and effectively support individuals or small groups of students in classrooms, online, in a hybrid environment, or other suitable locations.
  • Follow teacher and related staff instructions regarding work modifications and behavior plans.              
  • Clearly preview, enhance, and review academic materials with students.
  • Develop productive and pleasant working relationships with students, families, staff, and the school community.
  • Develop a work schedule designed to support all assigned students with the goal of meeting CSDE recommended service hours.
  • Maintain essential student records.
  • Administer assessments to students.
  • Participate in meetings when necessary.
  • Perform duties with an awareness of all district and state requirements, as well as Board of Education policies and procedures.
