Job description

Reading/Math Assistant
 


The reading/math assistant is assigned to a set number of hours per week (19.75).  The reading/math assistant works under the supervision of the Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher and the building principal.  The reading/math interventionist works in conjunction with the classroom teacher and/or Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher to provide individual or small group instruction.
 

  1. Complies with all published and disseminated rules, regulations, and policies of the Board of Education.
  2. Provides instruction, as directed by the classroom teacher and/or the Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher to students in need of intervention.
  3. Monitors student progress throughout the year using various assessment tools, if appropriate.
  4. Respects the privacy of the people for whom services are provided.
  5. Provides feedback on student progress to classroom teacher and/or Reading/Math Consultant/Teacher.
  6. Establishes and maintains sound relationships with students, parents, teachers, non-teaching personnel, and administrators.
  7. Provides information for meetings as requested.
  8. Performs additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment.
