Job description

Primary Purpose:
Responsible for manufacturing feed in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) established at the Feed Mill. Manages the operation of the computer automation systems required to receive ingredients, grind grains and mix and pellet feed. Helps with receiving (liquid, truck, rail) ingredients on 2nd and 3rd shifts. Operates processing equipment according to the established SOPs. Also responsible for daily paperwork which includes production paperwork. Responsible for compliance with all company policies and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

Schedule:
Sun–Fri, 7 AM–3 PM. Saturdays 7 AM–7 PM, with every 3rd Saturday off. Must be available for 12‑hour shifts. Steel‑toe shoes required.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Operates the pellet mills in a proficient and efficient manner for optimum production and quality. Performs all scheduled mixing in a proficient and efficient manner for optimum production.
  • Works and cooperates with the batch operator in keeping them informed of the run status, mash supply needs and can also run batch operating equipment.
  • Produces pellets set by the Quality Assurance department. Makes sure all mixing is done accurately in accordance with the formulation; any errors in mixing should be called to the attention of the Feed Mill Superintendent immediately.
  • Makes sure coolers are clean and working properly. Keeps accurate records of drugs used, prints deviation reports at the end of the shift and turns in all records to the Quality Assurance Technician.
  • Keeps the area clean, well swept and neat in appearance always. Cooperates and works with ingredient unloading and transferring of ingredients to eliminate any possible contamination.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training in mechanics and computer skills.
  • 0 - 2 years' relevant experience in a Feed Mill or manufacturing preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic math, computer and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Works in a dusty, noisy environment.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
