The DepartmentThe Department of Mathematics & Data Science at Cal Poly Humboldt is a lively, student-centered, and supportive program distinguished by excellence in teaching, innovative curriculum development, and meaningful faculty-student engagement. We offer two undergraduate degree programs: a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Data Science. The department also offers a Minor in Mathematics, a Minor in Applied Statistics, and three certificates in Data Science.

Courses/Areas of SpecializationThe successful candidate may teach a broad range of courses in mathematics, statistics, and data science, ranging from lower-division foundational courses such as College Algebra, Trigonometry, Finite Mathematics, and Calculus, to upper-division and advanced applied courses in areas such as Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Differential Equations, Statistics, and Data Science.
We seek applicants who are prepared to contribute to instruction across a wide spectrum of courses spanning introductory quantitative literacy through advanced applied and computational topics.

QualificationsM.A. or M.S. in a mathematics, statistics, data science, or a closely related mathematical science field, with successful teaching experience/or recent professional practice is required. For statistics or data science courses, a M.A. or M.S. in a field with strong statistical application will be considered. A Ph.D.; and successful teaching experience within the last 5 years is preferred.

Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience.
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
Lecturer A $5,507 - $6,677
Lecturer B $6,221 - $13,224
Lecturer C $6,825 - $14,523
Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.

Cal Poly Humboldt sits on the traditional homelands of the Wiyot people in what is currently called Arcata, CA. The Wiyot people call the area Goudi'ni (over in the woods). The Cal Poly Humboldt campus in Northern California is in close proximity to several thriving Native American tribes and communities. Humboldt currently has the largest percentage of Native American students in the CSU system and has over 30 Native American faculty and staff, many from local area California Indian tribes. Cal Poly Humboldt is home to a number of leading Native American programs including the Indian Tribal Education and Personnel Program (ITEPP) and the Indian Natural Resource, Science and Engineering Program (INRSEP). There are also many opportunities at Humboldt to conduct research, teaching and community work on Native American history and cultures, with resources in Special Collections at the Cal Poly Humboldt library.
