Job description

SUMMARY:

Inspects and tests plastic components for dimensional accuracy and surface defects to verify conformance to company quality standards. Performs periodic audits to ensure that established in-process inspection procedures are effective and consistently followed. Records test data and written inspection reports by hand and on computer and confers with production personnel and supervision to determine cause of deviations from quantitative standards. Provides support for the international rework area. Individual must be a self-starter, able to work with little or no supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Perform first article inspection, which includes visual and dimensional analysis of molded components.

* Operate equipment, sets up gauges, and implements inspection methods and standards for each type of component as outlined in the Quality Control Manual.

* Support Process Engineering through requested analyses, including Central Tendency, Process Capability, Gauge R&Rs and Design of Experiments.

* Effectively use gauges, CMMs, and other measuring equipment in the lab.

* Provide assistance to manufacturing for trouble-shooting quality related problems.

* Perform audits of molded components and in-process inspection procedures to ensure effectiveness of the systems.

* Assist in international rework projects as needed.

* Receiving inspection duties as assigned

* Must be detail oriented to identify minor visual differences in plastic components from standard. Some components are very small in size.

* Perceive pertinent detail in verbal or tabular material, and observe differences in copy, to proofread words and numbers, and to avoid perceptual errors in arithmetic computations.

* Must be able to pass a color vision test

* Must be able to multi-task.

* Must be Detailed Orientated

* Be able to read and interpret part drawings/schematics.

* Must follow all work rules and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent experience and/or training.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Familiarity with other QA and statistical software and gauging/measurement systems.

Good working knowledge of all products, including how a pump functions and how individual components of a pump affect performance.

Familiarity with sampling plans.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentage, and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
