Job Summary:
The central Project Controls organization is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and analytical student to join our team as a Data Analytics Intern. In this role, the intern will support the development and maintenance of interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualization tools that enable data-driven decision-making across Capital Delivery. Working closely with the Project Controls Data Analytics team, the intern will analyze data, support reporting initiatives, identify opportunities for process improvements, and help implement enhancements through automation and data-driven solutions. This role requires experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.


Essential Function:

  • Assists in developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards, visualizations, and reports to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Compiles and validates data from multiple sources to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.
  • Supports the preparation of recurring and ad hoc reports, metrics, and analytical summaries for management and project stakeholders.
  • Identifies data trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvements through analysis and visualization techniques.
  • Assists with the development of automated reporting and data management solutions using Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, or other analytics tools.
  • Participates in team meetings and contributes to data analytics, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in Engineering (Civil, Industrial, Systems, Mechanical, Electrical), Construction Management, Applied Mathematics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in creating visually appealing and user-friendly dashboards in Power BI or other visualization tools.
  • Must have at least 3 years of academic undergraduate studies completed or a junior status at minimum.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
  • Available to work a minimum of 30 hours per week between the days/hours: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Creative out-of-the-box thinking and a keen interest in using data to identify trends.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data modeling, complex automation using macros and VBA, and a strong understanding of Excel functionality and capabilities.
  • Experience with cleaning, restructuring, and summarizing data.

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

The hourly range is $18.00 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc.  In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
