Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Inpatient Med/Surg position in a remote Alaska facility, requiring an active AK RN license and experience with both pediatric and adult patient populations.
Job Details
• Inpatient Med/Surg unit setting within a hospital environment,
• Patient population spans birth to elderly, including post-surgical, behavioral health, pediatric, and mother/baby patients,
• Variable shift schedule with both day and night shifts available,
• 13-week contract,
Job Requirements
• Active Alaska (AK) RN license in good standing required,
• Current BLS certification required for the duration of the assignment,
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required,
• Experience with both pediatric and adult patient populations strongly preferred,
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training required,
• Proficiency in medication calculations for adult and pediatric patients (math test administered upon arrival),
• Must have documented competencies in: IV/Central Line site care, fall precautions, age-specific care, abuse/neglect identification, pain management, restraints and seclusion, end of life care, blood transfusions,
• Date of birth (DOB) and Social Security Number (SSN) required for consideration,
• Nursing degree from an NLN-approved institution required,
Additional Information
• Provides comprehensive patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation; reassessments conducted every 24 hours,
• Collaborates with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver quality, cost-effective care,
• Supervises unit secretaries and PCTs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse,
• Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in all patient care delivery,
• Orientation is held on Tuesday and Wednesday,
• This is a remote location in Alaska; hospital-provided housing is available and strongly recommended,
• Housing consists of shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces; male and female units are separate; no dogs allowed; travelers coordinate housing directly with the facility,
• The facility will reimburse economy-class flights to and from the assignment; detailed flight and luggage receipts must be submitted to American Traveler Staffing for reimbursement processing,
• Flight itinerary must be submitted at least one week prior to the start date; the facility will arrange airport pickup for arriving travelers
