Position Information

Job Title Professional Math Tutor

Job Description

The Professional Mathematics Consultant (Tutor) will meet with students to provide students with Math Tutoring services on the West Burlington Campus, under the supervision of the Learning Resources Coordinator.

Job Description:

  • 12-18 hours per week, scheduled Wednesday-Friday from 9am to 3 pm beginning mid

August & continuing in alignment with the 25-26 SCC Academic Calendar.

  • Pay rate is $19 per hour. These positions are part-time hourly positions, and are not eligible for SCC benefits
  • Tutoring sessions can range anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Sessions should be able to accommodate 2 students if coursework is similar in material.

Location: West Burlington, Iowa

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree with sufficient collegiate Math coursework & ability to assist students with Math coursework through Calculus I.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Math
  • Experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disabled backgrounds of community college students
  • Experience working as a Math Tutor or in a Tutoring Center
  • Experience working with adult learners
  • Base-level technology knowledge

A copy of unofficial transcripts must be sent as well.
