The Opportunity - Field Technician

We are seeking a Field Technician to join our Geotechnical Team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering geotechnical field inspection, materials testing, and data collection services on a variety of projects including transportation, land development, and residential, commercial, and industrial construction. This position is based out of Terrapex's Toronto office and offers a salary range of $25.00 - $33.00, commensurate with experience.

Position Highlights:

• 5+ years of relevant field experience in materials testing, geotechnical investigation support, or construction inspection (typical range)
• Ability to work independently in the field on routine projects while following established procedures and instructions
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy in data collection, and highquality field documentation
• Good working knowledge of field compaction testing, concrete sampling/testing, and basic QA/QC procedures
• Ability to recognize discrepancies or changing site conditions and communicate issues promptly to the Project Manager
• Familiarity with applicable industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements relevant to Ontario projects
• Valid driver's licence with access to a reliable, insured vehicle
• Capable of performing field work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing/kneeling for extended periods, and working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and a strong safety culture

What You'll Do

• Conducting field testing such as compaction testing on earth fill, granular, and asphalt materials, plastic concrete sampling and testing, as part of QC or QA programs;
• Assisting in laboratory testing as needed, for soils and aggregates;
• Participating in all assigned Health and Safety training programs;
• Attending in technical training programs as required;
• Maintaining strong and effective working relationship with Terrapex staff as well as clients and subcontractors;
• Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

What We're Looking For

• Post-secondary education in Construction Engineering &/or Civil Engineering Technology would be considered an asset. Secondary School Diploma will also be considered based on previous work experience, trade or training.
• Previous experience in materials testing, geotechnical field work, or construction inspection is an asset
• Strong organizational and problemsolving skills, with the ability to apply logical reasoning in the field
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to accurately enter data with a high degree of precision
• Familiarity with software such as MS Word, Excel, Geosystem, and AquiferTest is an asset
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including occasional weekends, extended hours, and outoftown assignments within Ontario
• CCIL laboratory accreditation is an asset
