Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Senior Level Construction Materials Engineering Manager with extensive experience in construction materials testing (CMT) to join our Jacksonville, FL location.  Join our Engineered Construction Team and specialists servicing a wide range of projects and clients. Position includes supervision and group management, business development, client management, project and program management, and technical execution of infrastructure projects, related to dams, transportation structures, commercial development, municipal work, and government services.

Work Location:

Role would be based in our Jacksonville, FL office. 

Key Responsibilities: 

The successful candidate should be flexible in assignments, willing to travel periodically, and eager to learn. Technical services work areas include: 

  • Management of local CMT team and Jacksonville materials testing laboratory
  • Experience with laboratory testing, including concrete, soils aggregate and asphalt
  • Experience with advance laboratory testing such as consolidation, permeability, triaxial shear and direct shear (strongly preferred).
  • Assist with administration and participation in the AMRL / CCRL proficiency testing programs and audits
  • Assist with administration and participation in the USACE Laboratory Validation Audit
  • Leadership of projects, and business development efforts combined with geotechnical / materials focus for various clients and sectors
  • Coordination with clients to define work programs and budgets, provided leadership and strategy including general oversight and planning, and project management
  • Support staff development through mentoring
  • Develop and enhance key client relationships and serve as a primary company contact on projects
  • Full managerial responsibility for all aspects of a project including safety, scope development, contract negotiations, cost control, staff management, quality control and cash management
  • Coordinate work efforts and provide senior review of work performed
  • Manage and deliver quality projects safely, on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client
Skills / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Masters in Geotechnical or Materials Engineering is strongly preferred)
  • 8+ years of related experience in civil/geotechnical/ materials projects
  • Project management experience is strongly preferred
  • Licensed Florida Professional engineer is required (GA also preferred)
  • Experience with laboratory testing, including concrete, soils aggregate and asphalt.
  • Experience with advance laboratory testing such as consolidation, permeability, triaxial shear and direct shear is strongly preferred
  • Must have strong oral/written communication skills and ability to work well in teams
  • Individual must have a strong industry reputation and knowledge of the North Florida market
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
