Core Responsibilities

  • Performs construction-related field tests as directed by the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager and Senior Engineer.

  • Travels to various construction sites primarily throughout the Midwest area with the potential for overnight and/or weekend as needed.

  • Relays information to project manager and/or engineer, with limited in-field decision making.

  • Transports equipment, test specimens and/or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provides physical assistance in equipment set-up.

  • Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically.

  • Performs field quality control tests of in place concrete.

  • Performs field density testing on soil, concrete, asphalt and other construction materials.

  • Assists other technicians or professional staff on tasks and assists other departments as necessary.

  • Follows Atlas’ safety plans, programs, policies, and procedures.

You’ll thrive here if you have

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

  • 2+ year’s Construction or CMT experience a plus.

  • Willingness to learn and work any shift that is needed.

  • Ability to work toward and achieve industry required certifications. e.g., APNGA Nuclear Certification, American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1, OSHA 10-hour Construction, etc.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to learn and operate specialty equipment.

  • Responsiveness, reliability, accountability

  • Materials Laboratory, Geotechnical Drilling, or Soils related experience would be a plus.

  • Preference to one or more of the following certifications: ICC, NICET, NETTCP, CWI, etc., but not required
