M&J is seeking Materials Inspectors to perform field sampling and testing of construction materials including soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete.
Responsibilities
โ€ข Perform field sampling and testing of construction materials including soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete.
โ€ข Conduct density testing, compaction testing, and materials sampling in accordance with the VDOT Materials Manual of Instructions (MOI).
โ€ข Document materials testing results and maintain testing records.
โ€ข Coordinate materials testing with project inspection staff and contractor personnel.
โ€ข Verify materials incorporated into the project meet VDOT specifications and material acceptance requirements.
โ€ข Maintain calibration and operation of testing equipment including nuclear density gauges.
โ€ข Assist with documentation of test results for project records and pay estimate verification.
Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum 3-7 years of experience in materials inspection or materials testing.
    โ€ข ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I certification.
    โ€ข Nuclear Density Gauge Safety Certification.

Preferred
  • NICET Level II or III certification in Construction Materials Testing.
    โ€ข TxDOT Material Testing and Inspection precertifications (Category 12).
    โ€ข OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training.
