Job description

General Responsibilities:

Responsible for engineering and process control for all metals/materials used in the design and manufacture of products used for compliance with aerospace and automotive requirements.


Specific Duties:

• Participate in design activity of new products, document and recommend best practices for thermal processing.

• Research, maintain, and develop material standards as well as metal selections that meet existing and new product requirements (corrosion, wear, plating).

• Establish and maintain in-house engineering and process specifications for heat-treating.

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for all production machining and heat treat activity (bright hardening, annealing, tempering, sub-zero treatments, and coatings).

• Maintain production furnace compliance to AMS2750.

• Train and certify heat treat operators to applicable specifications.

• Operate and maintain metallurgical lab for support of production operations (sectioning, mounting and polishing, microhardness of materials and plating, corrosion testing).

• Direct and support product failure issues associated with metals, weldments and customer returns and provide technical reports.

• Manage and review all external metallurgical testing and reports to ensure results comply with specification requirements.

• Investigate product/process/equipment improvements, including developing a technology roadmap for the metallurgical lab.

• Create monthly report for all activity and review with VP of Engineering

• Support NADCAP welding and chemical processing audits


Qualifications:

• Degree in Metallurgical Engineering (preferred) or Material Science with minimum 5 years of experience in heat-treat manufacturing and metallurgical lab operations.

• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.


Compensation: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 annual base salary based experience
