Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Research and Development Engineer to join our innovative R& D team. The ideal candidate should have a materials science/engineering (or other science/engineering) field with an emphasis on carbide materials.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret technical data related to materials and carbide manufacturing processes.
  • Leads technical development of new ceramic and carbide cutting tool materials. Incorporates field testing in selection of next generation cutting tool materials.
  • Provides guidance for Research and Development technical staff in all materials related research and research equipment.
  • Writes carbide procedures and specifications for procurement of new materials for current and future manufacturing methods.
  • Keeps abreast of the latest developments of cutting tool materials to insure Greenleaf is at the forefront of technology.
  • Assists manufacturing with technical problems as needed.
  • Publish internal reports and technical articles on a regular basis in support of current research and manufacturing support.
  • Supports the sintering of carbide materials and qualifications..
  • Understands and can disposition the various properties of carbide.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in materials science/engineering (or other science/engineering) field with emphasis on carbide materials.
  • Must have background/experience with the analytical methods used in our Research and Development laboratory e.g. SEM, EDX and WDX analysis, metallographic and physical and mechanical testing.
  • Prior experience in technical report writing and publishing technical articles in the field of materials.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (Citizen or Green Card Holder) as defined by ITAR regulations.
  • This position is ITAR controlled and involves access to technical data subject to export restrictions.
  • Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis software and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing scientific reports and presenting findings.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
