We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team and play a key role in delivering complex geotechnical, special inspection, and construction materials testing projects. This is an opportunity to bring your technical expertise, project leadership, and client relationship skills to a growing team working on challenging projects that help shape the communities and infrastructure of Northern Minnesota.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help train, review and supervise field technicians.
  • Attend face to face meetings with new and existing clients.
  • Perform various field and laboratory tests on soils, concrete and aggregate materials.
  • Prepare various levels of reporting responsibilities depending on the scope of services of a project.
  • Work with appropriate staff to assign less experienced staff on projects as needed.
  • Review observation and test data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Work independently when on job site.
  • Work with project engineers and client to ensure that client specifications are followed.
  • Consult with Estimators and project team during proposal preparation, perform project set-up, process contracts, prepare project summary reports and prepare invoices.
  • Implement a detailed project plan and comprehensive documentation and monitor and track progress throughout the project.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Successfully manage the relationship with all stakeholders for assigned tasks.
  • Evaluate risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors during the execution of projects.
  • Work with project staff and clients to ensure that client specifications are followed.
  • Work with operations to coordinate staff/resources on projects as needed.
  • Direct Project Assistants and Project Controls Specialist as needed.
  • Report and escalate to Principal or supervisor as needed.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.

REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks efficiently and simultaneously.
  • Solid technical background with hands-on system experience preferred.
  • Excellent client-facing, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar highly preferred.
  • Excellent math and problem solving skills.
  • Good understanding of math and computer aptitude.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education Associates or bachelor's degree required, preferably in the fields of architecture, construction, engineering, geology or finance/accounting.

Experience and/or Training 5+ years of project management or similar experience.

Licenses/Certificates ACI and ICC certifications preferred

Technology/Equipment Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar highly preferred

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

Essential:Hearing and vision (both correctable), continuous sitting or standing at desk or workstation, wrist turning, grasping, pinching, and finger manipulation, other physical requirements typical of working on a computer and talking on a phone (65%-100% of the time worked); frequent walking, lifting or carrying up to 10 lbs, turning and twisting (30%-64% of the time worked); occasional reaching, lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs, and push/pull up to 10 lbs (11%-29% of the time worked); rarely taste/smell, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, lifts or scaffolding (0-9% of the time worked).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work/Environment

Usually will be an office environment, using computer, telephone, other office equipment as needed to perform duties; frequent interruptions throughout day likely. Sometimes will be a jobsite environment which can be outside in all weather conditions and/or tightly enclosed areas and can have uneven walking surfaces.

Travel Requirements

Position requires offsite travel (locally and throughout United States), typically 5-8% annually.

Compensation Range:

$73,000.00 - $109,000.00
